A warmer welcome in Barry
Despite the bitter easterly winds this week I was pleased to find that there is a very warm welcome in High Street this Christmas yet again.
Xmas shopping is a pain at the best of times and I try anything to avoid the crowds so High street has come as a welcome surprise in the variety of potential gifts available. And what a great atmosphere the traders have generated, once again providing the most decorative lights outr of all of the shopping areas in the town. Now admittedly Kings Square is well decorated this year but what about the rest of Holton Road. It seems as though as well as the demise of Dan Evans the strings of festive lights have also dissapeared.
High street once again leads the way in providing the X-tra factor for Christmas shopping. I suggest a slow saunter along the street to discover the hidden gems amongst the friendly stores and welcoming shop assistants. No more the mad frenzy to find a parking space at Culverhouse Cross or the extortionate fees being charged by NCP in Cardiff. Although we did try the park and ride service from County Hall on Saturday- what a bargain at £3 per car. But the crowds were still there in Queen Street and St.Davids Centre.
If like many people you are looking to save a bit of cash this year you will find many a bargain in High Street without the hassle.
